Taller
Sonoro is the result of a group of musicians’ longing who back in the
year 2000 decided to take their creativeness towards a common goal. From
the very beginning the master lines of the project were defined: not only
would they ‘play contemporary music’ but they would also do it as an
activity from which composers, musicians and audience would enjoy
themselves through a fulfilling experience. The
basic lines of Taller Sonoro’s production have always been the
collaboration with young composers and also the interpretation of their
music from a point of view which combines concepts such as unity and a
‘team approach.’ Both their singular mise-en-scène
and the advantage they take from this turn their performances into an
experience in which the attention of the listeners is drawn to the players
while their music interest is focused on the musical language being spoken. All
this time, the different projects carried out by Taller Sonoro have
visited events such as the Contemporary Music Festivals of Seville and
Granada, and other important venues like Córdoba, Almería, Santander
(‘Menendez Pelayo’ International University), Madrid (Queen Sofia
Museum Hall of Music), San Sebastian (Kursaal, Quincena Donostiarra) or
the Second Edition of the Contemporary Music Festival of Molina de Segura,
Murcia. Activities abroad include the World Saxophone Congress XIII (Minnesota,
the USA) and XIV (Ljubljana, Slovenia), also the OPUS 5.1 Festival in
Bordeaux –France-as well as ‘Spirals’ Festival at The Invalides
Cathedral, Paris. Finally in Germany we can mention our concerts in
Frankfurt (Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst) and at the
Cervantes Institute of Berlin. Taller
Sonoro also includes a pedagogical activity mainly carried out as the
resident group of the ‘Manuel de Falla’ Master Grade in Composition in
the City of Cadiz. Here, the main line of work (as said above, the deepest
possible collaboration between players and composers) finds its highest
expression with the premiere of the pieces of music wrought by the
composition pupils of the School of Music. This work is also enrichened
with the active attendance and presence, in the same role of resident
group, at the International Course of Analysis and Composition, during the
years 2004, 2005 and 2006, all of them held at Villafranca del Bierzo, León.
These Courses were directed by Cristóbal Halffter and took place as part
of the International Festival of Organ in the City of León. More recently,
Taller Sonoro has also imparted specific courses dealing with the
interpretation of Spanish Contemporary Music and performed concerts about
the mentioned subject at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst,
in Frankfurt (Germany). As
an activity including new technologies, Taller Sonoro edits a trimestral
e-magazine as part of their website. This e-magazine shows the work which
is being presently done by each player, composer or listener. Articles,
research, summaries and all kinds of news about music can also be found
there, as well as scores and a space open to everybody who, either
directly or indirectly, wishes to be linked to present music and to the
personal way in which Taller Sonoro understands this work Interrelation

and Interpretation. In two words: Taller Sonoro |
